第三学期第一周，BDSC自豪地庆祝了太平洋岛语言周（Pasifika Languages Week）。本次活动由Pasifika Council（太平洋岛理事会）组织，为师生们提供了一个共同庆祝太平洋地区丰富语言、文化与身份认同的宝贵机会。
本届语言周以“Our Culture, Our Strength, Our Success”（我们的文化，我们的力量，我们的成功）为主题，Pasifika Council通过表演、文化展示以及太平洋岛美食，展现了太平洋地区多元灿烂的文化风貌。各个whānau（大家庭小组）分别代表了不同的太平洋岛国，包括Cook Islands（库克群岛）、Niue（纽埃）、Tonga（汤加）、Samoa（萨摩亚）、Fiji（斐济）和Tokelau（托克劳）。
庆祝活动于周一拉开帷幕，由Junior Samoan组带来了精彩的开场表演。整整一周里，同学们学习了不同太平洋语言的问候语，并每天聆听以各种Pasifika语言分享的寄语。周二，Tongan组在体育馆献上了一段优美的舞蹈；周四则是Niuean和Cook Islands组充满活力的精彩演出；到了周五，Samoan Girls组与Samoan Boys组的出色表演为本周活动画上圆满句号。
另一大亮点是周三举行的太平洋岛美食摊位，深受师生们的喜爱。大家品尝了sapasui（萨摩亚炒粉）、咖喱饭、panikeke（太平洋风味炸面包）等多种美味佳肴。这一活动不仅拉近了大家的距离，也让许多学生有机会亲身体验地道的Pasifika风味。
Pasifika Council在此衷心感谢所有参与表演的同学、学生领袖、给予支持的教职员工，以及为本周活动的成功付出努力的各个家庭。正是大家的热情投入、无私奉献与文化自豪感，共同成就了这场令人难忘的庆典。

Pasifika Languages Week 2026
During the first week of Term 3, BDSC proudly celebrated Pasifika Languages Week. Organised by the Pasifika Council, the week provided students and staff with an opportunity to celebrate the rich languages, cultures, and identities of the Pacific.
Guided by the theme “Our Culture, Our Strength, Our Success,” the Pasifika Council showcased the diversity of the Pacific through performances, cultural displays, and Pacific Island food. Each whānau represented a different Pacific nation, including the Cook Islands, Niue, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, and Tokelau.
The celebrations began on Monday with a performance from the Junior Samoan group. Throughout the week, students learned greetings from different Pacific languages and heard daily messages shared in a variety of Pasifika languages. On Tuesday, the Tongan group performed a beautiful dance in the gymnasium. Thursday featured vibrant Niuean and Cook Islands performances, while Friday concluded the week with outstanding performances from the Samoan Girls’ and Samoan Boys’ groups.
Another highlight was the Pacific Island food stall held on Wednesday. The stall was extremely popular with students and staff, who enjoyed a range of delicious food, including sapasui, curry and rice, and panikeke. The event created a sense of community and gave many students the opportunity to experience traditional Pasifika flavours.
The Pasifika Council would like to thank all performers, student leaders, staff supporters, and families who contributed to the success of the week. Their enthusiasm, commitment, and cultural pride made this a memorable celebration.
